Our Story

Lara Schadt and Benjamin Alexander Froehlich used to organise informal singing get-togethers with friends from different countries. Eventually they realised that what they were doing was too unique to stay hidden in someone’s living room.

So in January 2014, they decided to start London International Choir, an a cappella choir performing music from different languages and cultures – also known as LIC.

Under Benjamin’s baton, the choir steadily grew.

Eventually he was joined by actor, musician and composer Dan Willis, who worked with the choir between 2014 until he relocated to Manchester in 2016.

Paul Devlin – composer, orchestrator and arranger, then stepped in, working in tandem with Benjamin until 2018. By then life had taken them both on new career venture –

and in Paul’s case, to a different country.

The two former conductors left the choir to the very capable hands of Julian D. Mohr, our current MD.

Julian’s arrival marked the beginning of a new era for LIC. From pushing artistic and technical boundaries, to steering the group through the pandemic, he continues to work relentlessly to mould the choir into one of the best international a cappella choirs in the UK.
